Work Location & Schedule:Anchorage, AKThis is a regular exempt position on an urban schedule of a 40-hour week or compressed work week 9/80 schedule.  Relocation benefits may apply. Periodic travel to Valdez, Fairbanks, Pump Stations, and the Pipeline Right-of-way will be required.

Minimum Qualifications:Applicant must meet or exceed these minimum job requirements to apply for this position. §          Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field§          Four (4) years of related experience as a mechanical, operations, or maintenance engineer with progressively higher levels of responsibility§          Advanced working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures regarding mechanical engineering§          Advanced written and verbal communication skills
Preferences:§          Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering§          Eight (8) years of related work experience in the application of mechanical engineering principles for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of petrochemical physical infrastructure, including pumps, piping, valves, tanks, and control systems§          Strong demonstrated leadership skills§          Experience in project management, including documentation and deliverable preparation and review§          Broad working knowledge of Alyeska’s work management process§          Experience performing and/or managing maintenance and construction work in an arctic environment
Accountabilities and Specific Requirements: Under general direction of the Right of Way Integrity Supervisor the O&M Support (Valve) Engineer is accountable for the following:  Provide company-wide technical engineering support on Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) valves and valve actuator issues.  Working as a member of the valve program team, this position is accountable for providing the direction and guidance necessary to maintain and test regulated and non-regulated TAPS valves to ensure operational reliability, continued system integrity, and regulatory compliance.  This position requires infrequent travel to the field, primarily via the highway system and TAPS Right-Of-Way.Partial roles and responsibilities inherent to this position include:§          Review and approval of Preventive Maintenance tasks and procedures§          Ensuring all regulatory requirements with regard to TAPS valves are met§          Advising management on indentified trends or issues that could impact system reliability and integrity§          Coordinating with operations any shutdown requirements related to valve maintenance§          Review and updating of TAPS Valve Program and Integrity Management documents and manuals§          Gathering, compiling, and analyzing valve-related data§          Preparation of Valve Program Annual Report for review and approval by engineering and client stakeholders and submittal to the Joint Pipeline Office§          Organizing and participating in the valve program annual meeting to review the condition of all TAPS valves with the valve technicians§          Develop valve testing procedures, lead SOC review meetings, and organize testing efforts§          Identify maintenance and repair needs and developing Project Work Requests (PWRs), Minor Modification Packages, and Miscellaneous Modification Scopes of Work as appropriate and necessary§          Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure that the requirements for regulatory monitoring are fulfilled

Pre-Employment Drug Screen TestingAlyeska Pipeline Service Company (APSC) requires pre-employment drug testing utilizing hair test collections for all positions. The preferred collection site is from the head (approximately 1+1/2 inches of hair length necessary).   Head hair testing provides an approximate 90 day window of detection that checks for illegal drug use.  In addition, for Department of Transportation covered positions, APSC will also utilize urinalysis testing. Any positive drug test makes you ineligible for APSC employment.
