Work Location & Schedule:Anchorage, AKThis is a regular exempt position on an urban schedule of a 40-hour week or compressed work week 9/80 schedule. Relocation benefits may apply.

Minimum Qualifications:Applicant must meet or exceed these minimum job requirements to apply for this position. §          Juris Doctor Degree admitted to the Alaska State Bar Association or will be admitted to the Alaska Bar within 1 year of hire§          Eight (8) years legal experience§          Supervisory/management experience §          Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills§          Broad familiarity with major legal disciplines§          Substantial litigation experience.
Preferences:§          Given the breadth of responsibility, a working understanding of and experience in most if not all of these legal areas is important:  corporate governance, contracts, commercial transactions, property law, personal injury and property claims, employment law, compensation/benefits, media relations, transportation, administrative, constitutional, natural resources, environmental, federal and state lawmaking, corporate law, and regulatory proceedings§          Transportation, Energy or Utility Industry Experience §          Familiarity with Alaska specific Energy Industry issues/concerns§          Experience managing other attorneys and supervising a support staff§          Business acumen and understanding§          Excellent computer skills
Accountabilities and Specific Requirements: Under general direction of the General Counsel & Vice President is accountable for the following:   Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and representation for the company. This is a manager position, preferably with greater than 8 years of experience. Corporate Counsel formulates legal policy for the Company and acts as legal advisor to Executive Management and assigned client groups based on subject matter expertise.  The Law Department includes in-house attorneys, support staff and the company’s Lands and Insurance teams.  This position manages the Lands and Insurance functions and also ensures that legal services are effectively provided to the broader business and its specific department clients.  The Law Department is responsible for providing advice to clients on all company business including commercial, environmental, regulatory, property and employment law topics.  Corporate Counsel leads and performs company judicial and administrative litigation.  Finally, this position is responsible for the management of outside counsel to ensure cost effective representation.   (Continued on next page)
